How Long Do Payments Take?

Payment processing times: Check out a rundown of processing times for credit cards, debit cards and bank transfers.

⏱️ How Long Do Payments Take?

For small businesses and freelancers, timing matters. Knowing when payments will arrive in your bank account helps you plan expenses and run your business with confidence.

⚠️ Processing times are estimates: Actual deposit timing may vary based on bank processing speeds, weekends, and holidays.

Payment Processing Times at a Glance

💳 Credit & Debit Card Payments

  • Funds typically arrive within 1–2 business days.

  • Fast, reliable, and one of the quickest ways to get paid.

🏦 Bank Transfers (ACH)

  • Payments usually take 3–5 business days.

  • Why ACH takes longer:

    • The client’s bank must confirm funds are available.

    • Some banks respond quickly, others take several days.

    • Once cleared, Maroo initiates the payment immediately.

    • From that point, transfers typically take about 1 business day.

📌 ACH timing depends on the client’s bank: Some approve transfers quickly, while others may take longer.

Can Bank Transfers Be Faster?

ACH processing times are regulated by Nacha, the governing body of the ACH network in the U.S. These rules help reduce failed payments and protect against insufficient funds.

👉 Because of this, Maroo cannot control how quickly individual banks release ACH funds. The moment funds are approved, Maroo sends the payment to you right away.

Daily Payment Processing Cutoff

  • Payments process Monday–Friday.

  • If a payment is made after 2:00 PM EST, processing begins the next business day.

  • Applies to both card payments and ACH transfers.

📍 Cutoff time matters:

  • Example: If a client pays by card on Tuesday evening, processing begins Wednesday. Funds typically arrive Thursday or Friday.

  • If payment is made before 2:00 PM EST, processing may begin the same day and arrive sooner.
