How Long Do Payments Take?
We know that for small businesses and freelancers, timing matters. Knowing exactly when payments will arrive in your business bank account helps you plan, pay expenses, and run your business with confidence.

Below is a simple breakdown of how long payments typically take on Maroo, based on how your client pays.
Payment Processing Times at a Glance
💳 Credit & Debit Card Payments
When your clients pay you using a credit or debit card, payments are processed to your business bank account within 1–2 business days. Fast, reliable, and one of the quickest ways to get paid.
🏦 Bank Transfers (ACH)
Bank transfers take a bit longer to process. In most cases, ACH payments reach your business bank account within 3-5 business days.
Here’s why ACH payments take more time:
The client’s bank must first confirm that funds are available
Some banks send this confirmation quickly
Others can take several days to respond
Once the funds are cleared, Maroo immediately initiates the payment
From that point, the transfer typically takes about one business day
As soon as the client’s bank gives the go-ahead, your payment is on its way.
🏦 ACH timing depends on the client’s bank: Some banks approve transfers quickly, while others may take a few extra days to release funds.
Can Bank Transfers (ACH) Be Faster?
ACH processing times are regulated by Nacha, the organization that governs the ACH network in the United States. These rules help reduce failed payments and protect against non-sufficient funds.
Because of this, Maroo doesn’t control how quickly individual banks release ACH funds. While some banks move quickly, others may take longer to complete verification. The moment the funds are approved, Maroo sends the payment to you right away.
Daily Payment Processing Cutoff
Payments process Monday through Friday. If a payment is made after 2:00 PM EST, processing begins the following business day. This applies to both card payments and ACH transfers.
📍 Cutoff time matters: Payments made after 2:00 PM EST begin processing the next business day.
For example, if a client pays you by card on a Tuesday evening, processing begins on Wednesday and you’ll typically see the funds on Thursday or Friday. If payment is made before 2:00 PM EST, processing may begin the same day and funds may arrive sooner.
