Accepting Credit Card Payments On The Starter Plan

Learn how to enable credit card payments on the Starter Plan, update invoices after Stripe verification, and pass international card fees to clients.

If you recently completed your Stripe verification and want to enable credit card payments on an existing invoice, you may run into questions about plan requirements or payment settings.

This guide explains how credit card payments work on the Starter Plan, what to do if you see a Business plan prompt, and how international card fees are handled.

Can I Accept Credit Card Payments on the Starter Plan?

Yes. Once your Stripe account has been verified and approved, you can accept credit card payments on the Starter Plan without needing to stay on the Business plan.

To enable card payments:

  • Go to Settings by clicking the gear icon in your dashboard.

  • Select Payment Settings.

  • Make sure the Card Payments option is turned on.

Once this setting is enabled, your invoices can accept credit card payments.

Why Was I Prompted to Upgrade to the Business Plan?

If your Stripe verification was still pending when you tried to update your invoice, the system may have prompted you to upgrade to the Business plan.

After your Stripe information is approved and card payments are enabled, you should be able to edit your invoices and allow credit card payments without upgrading.

If you temporarily started a Business plan trial while troubleshooting, you can cancel it and still accept credit card payments as long as your Stripe setup is complete and card payments are enabled in your Payment Settings.

Can I Edit an Existing Invoice to Add Credit Card Payments?

Yes. After Stripe verification is complete and card payments are enabled in your settings, you should be able to edit your existing invoice and add the credit card payment option.

If the invoice does not save properly, double-check that:

  • Your Stripe account has been approved

  • Card Payments are enabled in Payment Settings

Once these are confirmed, try saving the invoice again.

Can International Card Fees Be Passed to the Client?

Yes. If your Payment Settings are configured to pass processing fees to the client, the additional fees will automatically be applied. This allows you to accept international card payments without having to cover the extra processing costs yourself.

⚠️An additional 2.5% fee for international credit cards will automatically be included and charged to the client during payment
