New Feature: Contract Addendums

Learn how Contract Addendums allow you to make updates to existing agreements while keeping the original signed contract intact.

Introducing Contract Addendums

Contracts often need updates after they have already been sent or signed. Whether you need to adjust pricing, add additional terms, or document new agreements, creating a new contract from scratch can make it difficult to keep track of the original agreement and its revisions.

With Contract Addendums, you can now make official updates to contracts that have already been partially signed or fully signed without modifying or replacing the original contract.

An addendum acts as a separate document that records any changes made after the original agreement. The original contract remains unchanged, while the addendum serves as an official revision that can be reviewed and signed by the required parties.

This helps maintain a clear record of what was originally agreed upon while ensuring any updates are properly documented.

When should I use a Contract Addendum?

Contract Addendums are useful when you need to update or add information to an existing agreement has already been partially signed or fully signed.

Common uses for addendums include:

  • Updating pricing or fees
Add changes to costs, payment amounts, or additional charges that were agreed upon after the original contract was signed.

  • Revising contract terms
Document changes to specific terms or conditions without changing the original agreement.

  • Adding new clauses or agreements
Include additional requirements, responsibilities, or details that were not included in the original contract.

  • Clarifying existing information
Add further details or explanations to help ensure all parties have the same understanding of the agreement.

Note: Event details are automatically carried over from the original contract and cannot be changed through an addendum. Addendums are intended for updating contract terms and information rather than changing the original event details.

Simplified Addendum Creation

Creating an addendum is designed to be faster and easier than creating a brand-new contract.

Instead of editing or replacing the original contract, you can create an addendum to document changes while keeping the original agreement intact. This allows you to maintain a clear record of the original terms while capturing any new updates or revisions that both parties agree to.

When creating an addendum, you can:

  1. Name the addendum
Give your addendum a clear name so it is easy to identify later.

  2. Set an optional expiration date
Add an expiration date if needed for your agreement.

  3. Review or update signers
The signers from the original contract are automatically carried over, but you can review and adjust them based on your needs.

  4. Edit the contract content
Add new information, update terms, or make the necessary revisions.

  5. Preview and send for signatures
Review the addendum before sending it to the required parties for approval and signatures.

Information such as the client details, event information, and original contract details are automatically inherited from the primary contract, saving you time and reducing the need for duplicate entry.

How to Create a Contract Addendum

Creating a Contract Addendum only takes a few steps. Follow the steps below to create an addendum from an existing contract:

  • Go to the Contracts tab.

  • Find the contract you'd like to update.

  • Click the More (⋮) menu next to the contract.

  • Select Create Addendum.

  • Update the addendum details, including the contract name, optional expiration date, client type, signer’s name and email, and any countersign settings (such as whether you’ll countersign and whether you’ll sign before or after the client). You can also add additional signers if needed.

  • Based on your workflow, you can select one of the following options:

    • 📄 Upload a DOCX file — Use an existing Word document as your addendum.

    • 📄 Upload a PDF file — Import a PDF version of your addendum.

    • 📝 Draft from scratch — Start with a blank document and build your addendum manually.

    • 📘 Use a template — Select one of your saved templates to quickly generate an addendum.

    • 📘 Use another template — Choose from any additional templates available in your account.

After selecting your preferred option, click Create document to continue.

  • If you choose Draft from scratch, you’ll be taken to the document editor, where you can build your addendum from a blank page. The editor includes:

    • A full formatting toolbar (text styles, alignment, bullets, numbering, bold, italic, underline, etc.).

    • A workspace where you can type or paste your addendum content.

    • A Placeholders panel on the right, which will be automatically populated with signer details from the contract (such as names, emails, signatures, and dates).

    • The ability to highlight text and insert placeholders directly into your document.

    • A Continue button to move forward once your addendum content is ready.

  • After drafting your addendum, you’ll be taken to a review screen where you can confirm all the details before sending it for signature. On this page, you’ll see:

    • The addendum title

    • A reminder that the addendum requires fresh signatures

    • The client type

    • The signer’s name and email

    • The event name

    • The event type

    • The event date

    • The event location

    • The email subject that will be sent to the client

    • An optional note to client field where you can add a personalized message

You’ll also have two actions available:

    • Send for signature

    • Preview contract

This step ensures everything looks correct before you send the addendum to your client.

  • After sending the addendum for signature, you’ll land on a confirmation screen showing that the contract was successfully sent. On this page, you’ll see:

    • A confirmation message that the contract was sent for signature

    • A shareable contract link with a copy icon so you can quickly copy it

    • A green button to Create invoice for this contract

    • An option to Create another contract if you need to continue your workflow

This screen helps you move directly into billing or continue creating additional documents without navigating back to the Contracts tab.

Addendums Stay Connected to the Original Contract

Every Contract Addendum is automatically linked to the original contract it was created from.

This connection makes it easy to access the full history of your agreement and understand how it has changed over time.

From the original contract or the addendum, you can:

  • Open the related contract
Quickly navigate between the original agreement and its addendums.

  • View all related addendums
See every revision created for that contract in one place.

  • Track signatures
Monitor the signing status of the addendum and see who has completed their signature.

  • View the audit trail
Review activity history and keep track of important contract actions.

  • Access related invoices
View invoices connected to the contract and its related documents.

By keeping all related documents connected, Contract Addendums provide a complete and organized history of your agreement revisions.
