Gratuity in Maroo allows you to give your clients an easy way to leave a tip as part of their payment experience.
To help ensure gratuities aren't forgotten, Maroo automatically sends reminder emails to your clients if a gratuity payment is still outstanding. These reminders are scheduled based on the gratuity payment date and are sent at specific intervals.
β° When are gratuity reminders sent?
If a gratuity payment has not yet been completed, reminder emails are sent according to the following schedule:
π 1 day before the scheduled payment date
π 7 days after the scheduled payment date
π 14 days after the scheduled payment date
Once the gratuity has been paid, no additional reminder emails will be sent.

Let's say your client's gratuity payment date is August 15.
Here's when reminder emails would be sent if the gratuity remains unpaid:

π If your client pays the gratuity at any point before a scheduled reminder, the remaining reminders will not be sent.

The reminder schedule is based on the gratuity payment date associated with the invoice. The system automatically checks whether the gratuity has been paid before sending each reminder.
For example:
β If the gratuity is paid before the first reminder, no reminders will be sent.
β If it's paid after the first reminder but before the second, only the first reminder will have been sent.
β If it's still unpaid after 14 days, all three reminders will have been delivered according to the schedule above.

π³ What happens if my client pays after receiving a reminder?
Once the gratuity payment is successfully completed, any future scheduled reminder emails are automatically canceled.
βοΈ Can I customize the reminder schedule?
At this time, gratuity reminder emails follow the default schedule and cannot be customized.
π Do reminders continue indefinitely?
No. Maroo sends up to three reminder emails for each unpaid gratuity and no additional reminders are sent after the final reminder.
π΅ What if my client paid the gratuity outside of Maroo?
If your client pays the gratuity outside of Maroo (for example, via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or another payment method), there's currently no way to stop gratuity reminder emails from being sent.
Even if you mark the invoice as Paid in Maroo, the system does not recognize gratuities that were collected outside the platform. As a result, the final gratuity reminder will still be sent 14 days after the gratuity payment date if the gratuity hasn't been paid through Maroo.
