Gratuity is a feature that allows clients to add a tip or service fee to your invoices. Here’s how it works, including when clients see the option and how processing fees are handled.
When and Where Clients See the Gratuity Option
Clients will only see the gratuity option when making the final payment on an invoice.
Example:
If an invoice is split into three installments, the client will only have the option to add gratuity when paying the final third payment.
Why?
This approach ensures that your business doesn’t appear pushy by requesting gratuity on every installment. The gratuity option is offered only at the end of the invoice, giving clients the chance to reward your service once the full work or service has been completed.
Who Pays the Processing Fees on Gratuity?
Processing fees for gratuity are determined by the Payment Settings configured by the business.
The business can decide whether these fees are covered by the business or passed on to the client. They can also choose a custom option to split the fees based on a set percentage.
What Payment Methods Can Be Used for Gratuity?
Clients can add gratuity using any payment method you’ve enabled for the invoice they are paying. This ensures flexibility and consistency with the payment options already set for that invoice.
Can Clients Add Gratuity After the Final Payment?
Yes! There is no expiration for adding gratuity. Clients can log in to their account at any time, open the invoice from your business, and add gratuity using the available option. This makes it easy for clients to show appreciation even after the invoice has been fully paid.
What Are the Processing Times for Gratuity Payments?
Gratuity payments follow the same standard processing times as regular invoice payments:
Card payments: 1–2 business days
ACH transfers: 4–5 business days
Can Gratuity Payments Be Refunded?
Yes! Gratuity payments can be refunded just like standard invoice payments. Refunds follow Maroo’s standard refund process, ensuring consistency and reliability.
