Adding Payments Made Outside of Maroo

Learn how to optionally add payments made outside of Maroo to ensure your contractors’ 1099 forms are accurate and complete for tax filing.

Maroo makes it easy to include payments you made outside the platform so your contractor’s 1099 is complete and accurate. This feature ensures all compensation is properly reported to the IRS, even if part of it didn’t go through Maroo.

How to Add Outside Payments

If you paid a contractor outside of Maroo and want that amount reflected on their 1099, follow these steps:

  • Wait until the contractor has completed and submitted their W-9

  • Go to your contractor list and locate the correct contractor

  • Click Edit Total Pay next to their name

  • Enter the amount you paid outside of Maroo

Once saved, the added amount will be included in that contractor’s total earnings for 1099 reporting.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Adding outside payments is optional and only needed if you want those amounts reflected on the 1099

  • Payments entered outside of Maroo are not verified by Maroo

  • You cannot reduce or edit amounts that were already paid through Maroo

  • Outside payments are added only for accurate 1099 reporting and do not affect past transactions in your account

This optional feature helps ensure your 1099-NEC forms reflect the full amount you paid each contractor, giving you accurate records and peace of mind at tax time.
