How Custom Split of Processing Fees Works

Maroo gives you full control over how processing fees are shared between you and your client. Whether you want to absorb fees, split them evenly, or pass them through entirely, you can tailor the experience to match your business model.

🌟 Why Use Custom Fee Splits?

Custom fee splits allow you to decide how transaction costs are handled, giving you flexibility to balance margins and client satisfaction.

  • Share the cost: Make payments feel fair by splitting fees 50/50 or using any custom percentage.

  • Boost conversions: Reduce friction by absorbing part—or all—of the processing fee.

  • Maximize flexibility: Adjust fee logic globally or per invoice, depending on the client or situation.

This ensures you can adapt your approach to different business scenarios without changing your overall payment structure.

āš™ļø How It Works

You can set a default fee split for all invoices or customize it on a per‑invoice basis.

1. Set Your Global Default

Choose how fees should be handled across all invoices by default:

  • 100% to client

  • 50/50 split

  • Any custom percentage

To configure:

  • Go to Payment Settings

  • Select your preferred split option

This default applies automatically unless you override it on a specific invoice.

2. Customize on a Per‑Invoice Basis

Need a different arrangement for a particular client or project?

When creating or editing an invoice, you can adjust the fee split directly.

  • Your custom split applies only to that invoice.

  • Your global default remains unchanged for all other invoices.

This gives you the ability to tailor payment experiences without disrupting your overall setup.

šŸ’¬ Example Use Cases

  • You offer premium services and choose to absorb 100% of the fees.

  • You prefer a 50/50 split to keep things transparent and fair.

  • You pass 100% of the fees to budget‑sensitive clients to maintain margins.

šŸ” Ultimate Flexibility

Custom fee splits let you manage margins, client relationships, and conversion—without adding complexity. You stay in control of how fees impact your business, ensuring both transparency and adaptability.
