We know that as a small business, it's very important to understand exactly when those payments are going to hit your business bank account.

Here's a rundown of processing times for credit cards, debit cards and bank transfers:

  1. When your clients pay you on Maroo using a card (be it a credit or a debit card), the payments are processed to your business bank account within 1-2 days. Super fast!

  2. When your clients pay you on Maroo using a bank transfer (ACH), then the processing times are a bit slower. Typically those payments process to your business bank account within 4 business days. The reason it takes longer for bank transfers is because we actually have to wait on the client's bank to send us a signal that gives us the go-ahead that there are funds in that client's account. Some banks send us the signal super fast and that results in a faster processing time for you. Some banks are SUPER slow to respond (as in up to 3 days or more!). The moment funds are cleared by your client's bank, Maroo initiates the payment to you! Once Maroo receives the signal, we send the payment to you, and the processing time is typically 1 day from our end.

Is there any way to speed up the bank transfers (ACH)?

Maroo does not have control on how long it takes for some banks to clear the payments as its regulated by Nacha (aka, the association that manages the development, administration, and governance of the ACH Network, the backbone for the electronic movement of money and data in the United States). Their job is to help to minimize the number of payments processed with non-sufficient funds (NSF) or bank declines cases.

Is there a daily cutoff time for payments processing?

Yes there is! Payments process Monday through Friday and if payments were made to you after 2pm est on any of those days (doesn't matter whether the client used a card or paid via bank transfer), those payments will not technically begin processing until the following day.

So for example, if you have someone pay you with a card on a Tuesday night, the processing of that payment won't start until Wednesday and you will likely see the payment in your account on that Thursday or at latest on Friday. If they send you the payment before 2 p.m. est, then you are likely to see the payment either on that Wednesday or that Thursday.

How can I tell when a payment was made and when it is due to arrive in my business bank account?

Great question. We have a great tool called Status Tracker where you can see where are your funds at any point in time. To read more about it, click here.
